indeed it is. a quiet little seaside village with the worlds smallest police station and a deep sence of patriotism, and some of the best oysters in the world. we found ourselves in carrabella on the weekend when they recognize the accomplishments of the soldiers who trained and served in ww2. in 1942 camp gordon johnston was established in carrabella to train soldiers in amphibious warfare. over the next six years more than 250,000 men were trained and went on to serve in both the pacific and european theaters. on the second weekend every march the town shows it's gratitude by opening up its hospitality to all who wish to participate in recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of the men and women who defend our country, it was a heart moving thing to see and experience. but more on the parade and celebrations later. just now i want to give a short overview of the town and what it looks like. there is a modest fleet of small oyster boats that call carrabella home. there is a beautiful beach and as before mentioned, the world's smallest police station. one man told us at the masonic breakfast, "we don't need a big police station, we just shoot criminals here."

Great stories! My Dad was stationed at Gordon Johnston during WWII for several years. He'll be excited that they still honor the place there!
