we paid a visit to the tourist info center. after establishing the fact that there were no nude beaches on grand isle we got down to brass tacks. what was there to see while there? one thing was the statue of jean lafitte, the pirate, and the other was the cheniere caminada cemetery, just out of town, you can't miss it. so away we went to take in the sights. the statue of jean lafitte was just outside the tourist information center so that didn't take too long. the cemetery, however took some finding, but we found it. there were only two resturants open in town so that didn't take too long to experience either, so we basically stayed dry and ate shrimp and moved along after five days, thuroughly decompressed. one good thing... it was very inexpensive to camp there... and the washer and dryer were free!
