chasing cajun culture

we head north, to henderson, louisiana. first night in a slick new rv resort we decided it was a bit to manicured for us but we would stay for tow nights and decide where to go next. so we went to crawfish town usa for a taste of bayou cooking. and it was pretty darned good too. it really didn't matter that the crab came from alaska, the shrimp was local and it was "all you can eat". so we ate all we could and went to find a new campground the next day. we did find one, about six miles down the hiway. we moved to frenchmans wilderness campground from where i write at this time. it is a bit more rustic and on saturday there is a gumbo cookoff here. we will attend and learn how to make gumbo.

today we went on a swamp cruise with ten other people and saw gators in a swamp. it was fun and we learned stuff about a swamp, and played with a baby gator. ate mexican and drank two fer one margaritas. the fun never ends.

last evening was fun tho... i should tell you about that. we went to breaux bridge and saw a store that specializes in nothing but old clocks and victrolas, that was cool, then we had dinner at the cafe des amis. what a kick. the food was great and there was a five person band that played louisiana folk (their own description), great music, hank williams, jimmy rodgers, chuck berry, even played a version of the big rock candy mountian that was very entertaining. great food and great music, perhaps the best evening out we have had on the trip.
